Position Overview

The Assistant Controller - Homebuilding will play a key role in supporting the financial health of our homebuilding operations. This position involves overseeing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. The Assistant Controller will work closely with senior management to provide insights and analysis that drive strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports in accordance with GAAP standards.
  • Manage the budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Support internal controls and compliance initiatives to mitigate financial risks.
  • Coordinate external audits and manage relationships with auditors.
  • Perform variance analysis to understand discrepancies between budgeted and actual financial performance.
  • Prepare and review tax filings to ensure compliance with tax regulations.
  • Conduct financial analysis to support operational and strategic initiatives.
  • Utilize SAP and Microsoft Excel for financial reporting and data analysis.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to finance team members, fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Monitor and manage work-in-progress (WIP) financials for homebuilding projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Homebuilding experience strongly preferred.
  • CPA or equivalent professional certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis techniques.
  • Experience with GAAP and accounting principles specific to the homebuilding industry.
  • Proficiency in SAP and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate financial information effectively to non-financial stakeholders.
